Autism Society

of the Quad Cities

Dear Autism Society of America member,

My name is Yngve Monsson and I am a graduate student at the University of Kansas.  I am also the parent of a 5-year-old girl with autism and a member of Lawrence Autism Society in Kansas. I am conducting a research project toward the completion of my Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology.  My research involves the online surveying of parents of children with autism; specifically I am exploring how parents cope with the stressors resulting from having a child on the autism spectrum.  A future goal is to use the results from this study to design better support programs for families with a member on the spectrum.

The survey should take no more than 20 minutes to complete.  Participation is completely voluntary and you can choose to discontinue at any time.  No identifying information is collected within the survey, and all data will be given the highest priority of confidentiality.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at: monsson@ku.edu <mailto:bunnja@uindy.edu>

There is very little, if any risk in volunteering to participate in this study.  Participation in this project requires you to be 18 years of age or older and the parent of a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (Pervasive Developmental Disorder).
